John Salinas – Vice President and Senior Title Examiner of Santa Fe Title Company

John Salinas is a one-of-a-kind jewel who has worked for 35+ years to serve the real estate community a unique way,  by examining and underwriting title insurance to thousands through safe and successful transactions in Santa Fe County and surrounding areas. Thousands of Santa Fe homeowners have secure ownership to the title of their property because of the work John has done since he was a young man.

John began his title career working for his father, Greg Salinas, who owned and operated Avery Bowman Abstract, which later became Capital Title in Santa Fe.   In fact, when John was just 11 he would act as a runner for payoffs and documents, and cleaning the ashtrays common with workers and the closing table at the time. Later, John would work after school and summers for his Dad, while attending Santa Fe High School. He continued learning and working in the title business during the summers while he attended Tulane University and UNM. John developed that strong sense of responsibility and pride while he worked with his Dad. John helped to create one of the most thorough and reliable title plants available in Santa Fe County.

After his father sold Capital Title, John worked for LaMerle Boyd at the successor company, Capital City Title Services, while it operated in the Greer Mansion. Then, in 1993 he joined Titles de Santa Fe as a minority owner with Dan Terrell and Lee Montoya.

In 1997, that company was purchased by First American Title where John joined their title department and became their Chief Title Officer. He moved to the same position with Fidelity National Title in 2011, and has since moved again to become an owner in Santa Fe Title Company.

During his career in title, he married Abby Salinas in 1987. Abby is now a successful broker with Santa Fe Properties. John and Abby owned and operated Investors Escrow, Inc., in Santa Fe from 1990 until 2014. Though Abby ran the day-to-day operations, John was instrumental in advising the company in title transfers, disputes and how to make the transactions technically successful.

John has been active in his community, particularly at Gonzales Elementary while he raised his two successful daughters, Elisabeth and Cecilia. John loves soccer, good food with family and friends and spending time at his weekend home in T or C.

All during his long career, John has worked tirelessly to protect the homeowners and lenders of Santa Fe County by helping secure their rights in Santa Fe real estate. His underwriting skills and practices are extremely sound. For years, the escrow officers of Santa Fe title companies have relied upon his insights and his strategies to close safe and secure transactions benefitting the community and the real estate industry.
